The First Slow Dance: FREE!
I slow danced for the first time with a girl in 8th grade back in 1987. Oh I had some earlier attempts but that’s all they were… ATTEMPTS! But the real slow dance came in 8th grade to Deniece Williams’ 1976 hit song “Free”. I still can smell the Guess perfume on the young lady that let me really slow dance with her. Can’t lie ladies and gentleman, it was a positively magical moment. Nice young lady, Guess perfume, and this wonderful song. The memories… Damn I love this song! swfobject.embedSWF("http://www.youtube.com/v/Zu0tt20UJag&color1=0x234900&color2=0x4E9E00&border=1&rel=1&fs=1&showsearch=0",...
4hero - Morning Child
Morning Child is just one of those inspiring tunes. 4hero just doesn’t get the respect they deserve here in the USA. 4hero’s “Morning Child” (featuring Carina Andersson) from the Play With The Changes release (2007).
Prince being THE MAN!
This is for my Canadian friends (and any others) who missed Prince rockin’ da funky joint on the American Idol final last week. And to think at one time, Prince and Michael Jackson were competing for pop music supremacy at the same time. Those were the days. But I gotta give it up to Prince. He looks good and still has his skills. Damn Michael! What happened brutha?
Don’t trifle with Mad Jada!
I don’t know what’s pissing off actor Will Smith’s lovely wife Jada, but I would make sure not to even ask permission to cheat after watching the below video from the David Letterman show. She even performed at Ozzfest 2005. WHOA! By the way, I love YouTube!
A Magical 1st
Once again, a UK group blows my mind with their musical loveliness. Thirty-one year old producer Dan Jones and twenty-seven year old singer Ellie Hajee form D’Nell. What kind of music do they do? Well, they are an amalgam of neo-soul, R&B, jazz, with a dollop of hip-hop (we club heads call this music “chillout” or “late night downtempo”). Producer Dan Jones is one of those rare people that has an uncanny feel for arranging music samples in a way that makes them sound fresh, new, and oh so groove-like. Singer Ellie Hajee sings with so much natural soul, conviction,...
Just an illusion we believe…
Days behold lives unfold Can’t move on so much untold Shades of gold we’ve been sold Been deceived while we believe If today is all we see Then tomorrow seems to me Is just an illusion we believe Strive to see hope to be To be some small part of eternity If today is all we see Then tomorrow seems to me is Just an illusion we believe – Zero 7, “Morning Song” I simply love this song. The lyrics mirror my point of view regarding the future. The living you do today is how the future will be. And it doesn’t matter how far or near in the future. So I’m...
Make a man dream, Aya…
Aya… She takes lyrics like the following: Nobody knows me… Nobody knows me like you do. Somebody said that the lonely side would make you stay, now that you know you’re wanted. Burned by the sun today. My fears have all gone when you stay. Nobody knows me, now that I’ve finaly seen the light of day, now that I know you want this… …And takes you somewhere else. I don’t know where. Just somewhere else. I’m usually not into artists that sing in those dreamy, breathy tones but Aya has a hold on me. I think it’s because she does her magic...
YES SIR! iPod time!
I finally got an iPod. The 40GB hook-up! The lovely wife gave it to me as a belated birthday gift. Mind you, my birthday has already passes (March) but she was very sick that day and couldn’t celebrate it with me. So she waited to get me a great present. Thanks babe!
I love music therefore I must RADIO.BLOG!
I can’t resist anymore. I tried. I am so weak. But hey, I’m human so… I MUST HAVE RADIO.BLOG! I feel the need to share my eclectic mix of muzak and stuff. I’ll set it up shortly. You’ve been warned.
Loveliness is the color Gray
The Couch Sessions has a podcast interview (in MP3 format) of New York singer-songwriter Kierstin Gray. She says that she’s “the best music you’ve never heard.” I don’t agree. She’s part of a large group of artists making “the best music you’ve never heard”. Kierstin Grey is supremely talented. I listened to some song samples on her web site. Talked about being moved. This young woman can flat out write and sing so emotionally. Good writer + good musician + good singer = LOVELINESS! Check out her web site and the podcast interview....
