The First Slow Dance: FREE!

I slow danced for the first time with a girl in 8th grade back in 1987. Oh I had some earlier attempts but that’s all they were… ATTEMPTS! But the real slow dance came in 8th grade to Deniece Williams’ 1976 hit song “Free”. I still can smell the Guess perfume on the young lady that let me really slow dance with her. Can’t lie ladies and gentleman, it was a positively magical moment. Nice young lady, Guess perfume, and this wonderful song. The memories…

I’ve never ever wanted to slow dance with a chick with Guess perfume than in this moment.

That is too cute T! My first slow dance was with my grandpa. I was about 3 or 4. I stood on his feet. I loved my grandpa Jack (R.I.P). It was to a Bobby Blue Bland song. Can’t remember which one. Now the next one was in 8th grand with a boy names Carlton. He ADORED me to the point he was sickening. I was still in my tomboy phase too. He was getting excited and it grossed me out. I pushed him away me and walked off.

ROFL!! I can just see you doing that. Yeah we fella in 8th grade have some super active hormones. And “getting excited” at that age sometimes happens at the most inopportune times. I’m glad to report that I didn’t get all excited in THAT WAY with my first real slow dance. I think the moment was just so cool, so “sweet” (and the young lady was a friend), that I was just COOL. Didn’t scare her off. Oh Elle… I know you were a tough cookie back in those days! Poor Carlton. LOL!

I think that applies to men even after 8th grade. I have far too many memories from my “up in da club” days and the same thing happened. Hormones and men … like peanut butter and jelly. Together forever. LOL!

I hear ya Angel. But fellas gotta learn some control. That’s why I really dig martial arts. My Hapkido instructor (Master Liu) even brought “getting excited” at the wrong times up in a class with all guys. FUNNY! But I can’t lie, being dedicated to the art a little over a year has seriously relaxed my mind, body, and soul. So “getting excited” is only for the REAL “getting excited” times. HOLLA! LOL!
