A friend indeed?
No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow. – Alice Walker, Pulitzer Prize winning author. Notice she said demands and denies. ‘Nuff said…
Vote for the white dudes!
After watching last night’s American Idol, I called some of the Mystic Negro disciples and we had a grand ol’ discussion. We all came to a consensus: A WHITE DUDE HAS TO WIN AMERICAN IDOL THIS YEAR! Yes sir! For the first time in American Idol history, we have three strong white male singers. Not half-ass singers. Not funny, weird singers. But down to da bone singers! This the time folks. Now, I do like Katherine and I absolutely love Paris (she is a bonafide jazz gurl and that always gets me) but they sadly are women. And women have dominated AI (with the exception of...
The limits of the possible…
The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. – Arthur C. Clarke, famous British sci-fi author and inventor That statement is so very true. Many of us see impossible as the definitive end-of-line. Just look at your daily life. We’ll throw around the word “impossible” freely at times. And I’m not acting like I don’t. In 2005, my wife and I made a New Year’s resolution to severely limit our use of the word “impossible”. We found that most of the time, we let our frustration...
Handshake of the Superpowers…
I wonder will there really be a real and friendly relationship with China, the newest superpower? Say what you want, but the ol’ “we can just bomb them into submission if they get outta hand” doesn’t appy to China. Not by a long shot. Complexity is the name of this game. And it’s not getting any easier.

Virtual keyboardin’ while Sao Pauloin’…
OK all you techie geeky gadgety types. That cool thing upa therr is the next cool thing. Make way for the Bluetooth Laser Virtual Keyboard. It’s compact, functional, and above all… DAMN COOL! Now all we need is a virtual monitor and displays out of our compact, cell phone-sized computer (complete with 2GB RAM and a 500GB flash drive standard) then we’ll be set. OH! How can I forget about the virtual mouse. Just point at the virtual monitor and move that lil’ finger. Let Bill Withers classic song “Lovely Day” play in the background.
The Power of Silly Cinema
HAHAHA!! Let those crusty (literally and figuratively) movie critics all bow down to the power of the silly cinema! ‘Scary Movie’ Sends Weinsteins to the Top By DAVID GERMAIN, AP Movie Writer LOS ANGELES - Bob and Harvey Weinstein returned to the box-office lead as “Scary Movie 4″ debuted with $41 million, the first No. 1 opening for the new company founded by the former Miramax bosses. It was the best Easter weekend debut ever, beating the $30.1 million opening of “Panic Room” in 2002, according to studio estimates Sunday. With the success of “Scary Movie...
Wait till I have hold PLEASE!!
I am sick of drive-thru restaurant cashiers not waiting until I have hold of my change or credit card before letting go. It’s just freakin’ rude and downright stupid. Besides, being 6′ 3″ and having to get out of a 4X4 F-150 to get my stuff that the damn cashier dropped just pisses me off to the nth degree.
A classic and then some!
During 36th Annual Tony Awards back in 1982, a classic performance was seen by people in attendance yet missed by a substantial number of people on television (who watches the Tony Awards?). The performance was turned in by Jennifer Holiday. I heard about it when I was young but never seen it. Here it is. Eight and a half minutes of emotion, spirit, and great singing. Gotta watch them Texas girls! And for those who watched the Sci-Fi network series Sliders will see the only cast member that stayed on the show from beginning to end: Cleavant Derricks (aka Rembrandt). I think I’m going...
“United 93″ and The Outraged
I got into a heated discussion with a co-worker of mine concerning the upcoming movie United 93 that chronicles what happened on Flight 93 on September 11th. To be honest, he was much more heated than I but I digress. My co-worker’s main point was that Hollywood’s “sickenly liberal bias and lack of morality” is why they would “exploit the heroes of Flight 93 with a bullshit movie so soon”. I replied that there were movies made about World War II during and soon after World War II like Gung Ho! (1943), The Way Ahead (1944), and Go for Broke! (1951). I emphasized...
