Thanks for the following words and links Faye Anderson:
Let’s be clear: It’s an urban myth that blacks will lose the right to vote in 2007. Instead, what’s at stake are key provisions of the act that are set to expire unless reauthorized.
I’ve been trying to tell some knucklehead friends of mine that the Voting Rights Act of 1965 isn’t up in air thus putting into the jeopardy the voting rights of we on the darker side of the skin realm. But some of them think President Bush and the Republicans have it in for us. I find it extremely entertaining that a dictator, such as myself, who hasn’t voted Democratic or Republican since having voting rights, can understand political things better than my hardcore party line friends. I mean, I’m outside the loop. Ah’s stoopid, suh. But no! I have to listen to some friends of mine (yes they’re Democrats but y’all not exempt Republicans) rant and rave about the Bush/Cheney Conspiracy against black folks.
Look, I’m a card-carrying member of the Conspiracy Theorists of America (since birth). We CTs know that President Bush isn’t part of the all-powerful Shadow Dancers. Those folks are running things from a cloaked starship that sits between the Earth and the Moon. President Bush’s head isn’t large enough to accomidate the massive intellect of the Shadow Dancers. As if!
But since I’m in a joyous mood, it would be WILDLY AMUSING to see we black folks voting rights taken away. I would literally glue myself to the couch and watch the nonstop outrage and silliness. Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! Why wouldn’t I be upset about losing my voting rights? Well my dearies, we dictators thrive chaotic yet amusing situations. I can’t vote for stoopid Democrats and Republicans anymore? No big loss. But in the chaos, I new order will rise. The Order of the Caramel Apple Pecan Pie! Led by their fearless yet ruggedly handsome leader T-Steel the Omnipotent Smiley One.
Come on Americans! Get rid of our voting rights so a new day can be ushered in. Don’t let me down. I know you can do it.
