American Idol LADIES 03/07

It’s weird how much how like the above two female American Idol contestants. Mandisa (left) and Kellie (right) have personalities that have just grabbed me. Like Dean, I thought Kellie’s whole innocent angle was fake. Not anymore. And I don’t think it’s all about her being innocent as being extra excited about the whole AI experience (hard knock life for her). Mandisa has such a warm and inviting vibe about her. Love her to death. And Mandisa and Kellie are just so darn cute. Especially when they smile.

Oh the singing… Almost forgot. :-)

Mandisa brought the house down with her cover of “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan. She was in a class by herself yesterday and set the bar high as Mt. Everest. Kellie sung Melissa Etheridge’s “I’m The Only One”. A good vocal performance but Mandisa set a definitive tone. But it’s time for me to get real. Even though I love Mandisa’s and Kellie’s personality, when the judges get to pick the genre of music, Kellie’s in trouble. Can’t see Kellie workin’ a disco song or a jazz standard. There’s other likable and more vocally talented AI contestants this year so she won’t get the Carrie Underwood treatment. I’ll bet a caramel apple pecan pie on it.

Dude, I thought she was even better than Chaka Khan. She OWNED that song.

Only thing that really pissed me off: my DVR glitched out and lost about three seconds right when she was really getting into the coda. Grrr. I’d have saved the episode for some time just to keep that performance around.

You may be right about Pickler, but come on, she acted like she couldn’t pronounce “salmon’ dude. Salmon!

  2. T-Steel says:

Maybe the word “salmon” is too high-falutin’ for her! LOL!
