Keeping oil in its place

If you look at it from a honest angle, doesn’t the whole argument about how much oil there is, refinery capacity, and alternative fuels just a waste of good oxygen? Why? Well many of us in the United States believe either:
1. That oil will not run our in our lifetimes so why worry.
2. That people that talk about oil running out are fear-mongers.
3. The market always correctly deals with issues like this.
4. That I have more pressing life issues than oil running out.
So why even talk about this issue? The hardest mind to change is a American in pure market belief mode. And with our...
Uncivil shopping for the win!

Francis Porrento muses about the wonders of the day known as Black Friday. For those not in the United States, this is day after the Thanksgiving holiday (today) where shoppers rush to retailers to buy gifts for the lovely upcoming Christmas holiday. As Francis points out, people are rarely civil on Black Friday:
…Black Friday seems to bring out the very worst of shoppers’ behavior — and in tandem with it, the most appalling, universal sense of unmet entitlement, as if someone had guaranteed each and every one of those folks that he’d find what he was looking for in the...
Happy Thanksgiving! Ya dig?

To those who celebrate it, of course. Even if you don’t, it’s always cool to give thanks, appreciate, and to just CHILL. I know folks who get stressed on holidays when they are on vacation. C’mon now! Dial yourself down and you’ll be alright.
Regularly schedulued blog programming will continue with flair after the holiday.

Please excuse my sporadic posting as of late. My wife and I are playing host to Thanksgiving dinner this year and we are busy preparing wonderful and edible lovliness. While we’re not the only ones cooking for this dinner, we’re handling some of the Thanksgiving dinner family mainstays (and most of the desserts). So as I wrap things up, I’ll be posting.
Ahh the wonderful smells of the holidays!
The Great Product

I’ve been involved in numerous discussions, debates, and arguments regarding social change. The biggest sticking point comes when discussing what entities inside a country initiates change. Some of my friends (who are very active politically) insist that the major political parties of a nation always initate the biggest social change. I beg to differ. I believe that the great product can and has already initiated the biggest changes in America and other nations (not to mention the least painful changes).
Political entities suffer from too much politics many times to initiate great change....
Iraq War shuffle n’ shake

Before I start talking futuristics and stuff, I just had to say something about the following article:
Hawkish Democrat Calls for Iraq Pullout
By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - An influential House Democrat who voted for the Iraq war called Thursday for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, another sign of growing unease in Congress about the conflict.
“It is time for a change in direction,” said Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., one of Congress’ most hawkish Democrats. “Our military is suffering, the future of our country is at risk. We cannot continue...
Let’s talk about future stuff…

Looks like I’m ready to open the portion of my brain that houses the futuristic thought. Don’t worry. I won’t be getting all weird on you. Not my style. Besides, being weird only works purely in the weirdo collective. I spent time there, had some great conversations, and returned. And it’s not a very big collective my friends.
So I’ll be posting some thoughts and stuff concerning the future. I think you all will get a kick out of it.
Prussian Blue: Much ado, much nothing…

A friend of mine in California mentioned this music group named Prussian Blue. His words to me:
Knowing you O Mystic One, you’ll probably get a good laugh out of this. But they have folks around here all up in a tizzy, bruh.
So I went to the Prussian Blue web site and I was totally amused and charmed by these two cute blond hair and blue-eyed white girls. I emphasized “blond hair and blue-eyed white girls” for a reason: they emphasize it. 13-year old twin sisters Lamb and Lynx Gaede’s newest DVD/concert released is called “Blond Hair, Blue Eyes”. Their song...
Good friend gone!

Words of advice to all religious people:
Denouncing a good friend after you found your faith simply because they don’t share it shows that you are faithless. Especially when that good friend has only been supportive of you almost your entire life.
I will try hard to not let bitterness and resentment take over my feelings toward you friend. But it will be no skin off my back if I don’t ever have to see you again, pal. I hope your satisfied.
UPDATE!
Maybe I’ll just get my ol’ pumpkin carving kit and have at the one of the eight pumpkins sitting in my garage. Roasting those...
I go spin, spin, spin

I like the motions of the sea
Dizzy, dizzy heights
I go spin, spin, spin
Let the record play on
Harnessing my sound
Just as long as I’m not stationary
– Uschi Classen, “Dizzy Heights”, Soul Magic LP (2002)
Sometimes I’m just taken in by the simple yet surprisingly moving lyrics of some songs.
