I was once told by a “friend” that I damned and going to hell since I didn’t accept Jesus Christ as my savior. I shrugged my shoulders and just said:
We all have our hangups.
I have never been bothered by people telling me such things. I’m not a Christian so it doesn’t bother me. Nor am I a fan of organized religion. But I never try to stop anyone from going to church. “Do what you gotta do” is my motto. That’s why I had a lil’ chuckle over La Shawn Barber’s words on this subject:
Telling someone that without Christ they are damned, as the Bible teaches, is called “hatred.

hey t. steel — cool joint;
been reading yours silently
for a while now, but this one
brings me out of the silent woods. . .
while i generally agree with you,
i have to offer a couple of “excepts. . .”
{1} except, of course, that ms. barber
neglects to tell her readers that these
words were uttered as counsel to a
woman of the jewish faith — for whom
eternal damnation is no small matter.
{2} she also neglects to reveal the fact that
the minister was SUPPOSED to be an
ecumenical team chaplain — he took the
role as a VOLUNTEER. so, his complaints,
when the views he expresses are, most
charitably, non-ecumenical — and less
charitably, hate-filled — seem disingenuous.
just my $0.02.
i have more on it, on my blog. . .
p e a c e,
– tae, out.
ecumenical
I hear ya Tae. I was basically giving my 2.75 cents on why being told such doesn’t bother me. But I understand BIG TIME why others of a different faith would go ballistic.
