Enough of this crap!

My last two entries was an attempt to siphon some of my anger about the handling of the Gulf Coast emergency. But it’s to no avail. I must vent.

I am tired of this shit! Where are the damn troops? This should have been a military operation from the jump. Instead we have the ol’ “it’s a local issue and the Feds shouldn’t be involved” nonsense floating around. And to top it off, according to sick news commentators like Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, the looting in New Orleans is the root cause for this disaster. What? Like the New Orleans Darkies brought this on themselves. Screw both of you and any one of you that feel the same. You are not American if you feel that way and should be shot along with the looters who you say should be shot. Again where is the overwhelming military presence? An overwhelming military presence not only would have curbed the criminal element in New Orleans, it would have filled the residents (in Mississippi also) with a sense of direction and purpose. There’s nothing like seeing our men and women in the green patrolling IN FORCE when you need hope. And what about aircraft carriers, supply ships, and supply aircraft? The airport isn’t underwater. C’MON!!!

We, the greatest country in the world can single out a dictator of a country, mobilize a swift and sure attack force, topple the government, and maintain our wits among constant terrorist violence everyday. YET WE CAN’T HANDLE THE CRISIS IN THE GULF COAST AREA?!?! What do we have? Let’s see. Some gun-toting thugs without the determination of Islamic extremists roaming around? AND WE CAN’T BRING IN THE TROOPS IN MASS TO STOP THEM AND FULLY ASSIST IN RESCUE OPERATIONS? We can set up forward command centers, base camps, and makeshift hospitals in war-torn foreign lands. YET WE CAN’T DO THAT HERE? We have to listen to the New Orleans mayor beg and plead for troops yet we judge him by saying “he’s cursing too much in interviews”? He’s is seeing first-hand the devastation and atrocities in his cities and you except him to be cool? What a bunch of unfiltered bullshit! Now mortgage companies are still demanding New Orleans homeowners to pay the mortgages. Rich! Rich and filled with sick cream. Just plain disgusting.

This isn’t the failure of the Bush Adminstration. This is a total American failure. From the bottom to the top. From the left to the right. Slantways, sideways, and backways. We have failed our citizens in their time of need. Now they endure harsh, foul, and filthy conditions because of our failure. And all we can do is trickle them out of their misery with our current efforts. Blame may not be the best course of action now but it will be a course eventually. And the damn questions better be answered and solutions provided or we’re no democracy.

Now some of you may give me a lecture about expecting the federal government to do the job of the state government. Or lecture me about how hard it is to mobilize a large military force. Go ahead. I’m listening. But let me break this to you. This in the United States of America (emphasis on UNITED). There comes a time when you must extend and over-extend for your citizens. The federal government has the job to protect its citizens in foreign and domestic emergency situations. Screw welfare and other programs. I’m talking about protection. And the Gulf Coast residents need to be protected from the criminal element and the terrible conditions. So excuse me if I’m expecting much. I’m American and we are the country of much. So I will EXPECT MUCH, damn it.

   I’m with you and thanks for the rant. I needed that. I haven’t read very many blogs in the last few days. Too many disgusting opinions out there.

   I have a New Orleans connection myself. I wasn’t going to mention it but I’ve been thinking about it and I’ve changed my mind. I’m just waiting for some quaility uninterrupted computer time.
