The tank, the B-52, the fighter-bomber, the state controlled police and the military are the weapons of dictatorship. The rifle is the weapon of democracy… If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government - and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws.
— Edward Abbey
. . . History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own fall.
— Adolf Hitler, Edict of 18 March 1939
Ahh! The words of the outlaw and the words of the dictator. Both men speak words that carry weight and are true. I don’t get much into the whole gun control debate because it’s silly. Guns are neither good or evil. They are tools only. Just like a knife, a blowtorch, a bulldozer, etc. It is the intent of the wielder that determines how much you hate, love, fear, and/or respect the tool. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. And for those that feel that “people are too crazy these days to own guns” I say the following in response:
We are all crazy. It’s just a matter of how you express your craziness that determines what your choices will net.
Personally, I am more sickened and hateful of what the Enron executives did to their employees than a person owning a gun.
Palm Trees in the Ghetto!
I found these two quotes, while browsing a blog I discoverd through my stat counter tonight. It never fails to amaze me the cool assed people that read my blog. This is a very cool blog and just got added…
