So pure, so right!

As I was rollin’ through the blogosphere today (for entertainment purposes only), I came across Baldilocks talking about taking a statistics class (with essays). LOVELY! I had a couple of statistics classes in my college days and loved them to the nth degree. Kind of strange since I have distinct “right-brain” tendencies being a musician and all. Maybe I’m a “whole-brain” thinker. Anyhow I always thought of numbers being so pure and so right. I’m one of those people that believe that The Ultimate Power is embedded in number and equations. That somewhere there is the original cosmic equation that started it all. But we’re not supposed to find it. We’re just supposed to journey towards it in an eternal quest to become more than what we are. Now if your going to get all sarcastic thinking about we humans evolving into light or something, I’ve already sucked on that tootsie roll so don’t play.

“More than what we are” starts with some basic stuff. Like making sure every U.S. home owner and renter owns a modern, working air conditioning unit. And how about getting rid of heating oil furnaces and making sure all homes have gas furnaces? And making some edible, healthy clear coat to keep breakfast cereal from getting soggy in milk? I already have an equation for those three simple things:

(wE + CAN) + (do + iT) = EUREKA

Ah the purity of number and equations. So pure, so right!

    You poor, sick devil ;)
I do math because I love to, but I do stats because I have to.

stats are a chore! A big pain. Yuck. But I simply love your EUREKA equation.

Hi! I just found you, via Solomon of course. Looks like you’re getting off to a great start.

I wish I was better at math. They say people generally like the things they’re good at and hate the things they’re not good at but I think math is beautiful even though I still count on my fingers and can do anything much more advanced than 2+2 without a calculator.

  4. Lynn S says:

oops. That should read “can’t do anything much more advanced than 2+2…

yeah i think i have to echo the sentiments of my fellow commenters. math doesn’t bother me. hell, i even got the hang of stats, but i hated that ish. granted, i’m not big on numbers. with my mind you think i would be, but nope.
